RIvET

1. My login is refused

Different possibilities:

a) Error message:

“The previous session may be active. Please check all browser windows and select the RIvET window to continue. Otherwise click on Login to start working with the system.”

Description:

This means that you are not allowed to enter because you did not close the application properly. Due to this, the previous session may still be active.

Solution:

To enter the system, click on the "Login" button that appears below the error message. In order to avoid this kind of message, make sure you always leave the application properly by using the “Logout” link in the upper right corner of all RIvET pages.

b) Error message:

“You tried to connect with an invalid account and password combination. Close the browser or contact the ESS helpdesk for assistance.”

Description:

If you tried to connect more than once with an invalid account ID and password combination, the application will not allow you to enter anymore.

Solution:

You need to close ALL internet windows and reconnect after a few minutes.

c) Mix between the account ID and the password:

The account ID is always related to your last name and first name.
In general, for the evaluators, the account ID is created from:

  • The 2 first letters of your first name
  • The 5 first letters from your last name
  • Followed by a dot and 5 numbers.

For example: the account ID for John Garden
Account ID: JoGarde.12345

2. How to change my password?

Password requirements:

  • The password must contain 8 to 16 characters;
  • Only numeric, alphanumeric and the symbols @#$%+=* are allowed.
  • At least one number, one lowercase letter, one uppercase letter and one symbol are required.

For example: Password@1 or Hello#01.

a) If you are already in RIvET:

You can change the password by using the "Password" link in the upper right corner of all RIvET pages.
The system will ask you to:

  • Enter once the old password (the one you received by mail)
  • Enter twice a new password you create on the basis of the password requirements
  • Click on the "Save" button to save your changed password
b) Send me a new password !!! For evaluators only!!!

If you do not remember your password or if for another reason you cannot login:

  • Click on the link "I forgot my password" on the login screen.
  • Fill in the details:
    • EMI code (i.e.: EX2008B123456)
    • E-mail address
    • Call you are actually evaluating for (your login is different from call to call)
  • You will receive an email with your new password.
c) When entering RIvET the first time:

Use the login and password you received by mail.
The system will ask you to:

  • Enter once the old password (the one you received by mail)
  • Enter twice a new password you create on the basis of the password requirements
  • Click on the "Save" button to save your changed password

3. I cannot see any proposals:

Contact your contact person from the Commission. (His/her email address is ending with "ec.europa.eu")

5. How to find help for RIvET?

  • In the application:
    On any RIvET page you can find a help related to the page you are working on. The "Help" link is on the upper right corner of every page.
  • Download manuals from ESS website
  • Contact the service desk (see ESS website)

6. I am suddenly thrown out of the system and do not see my IAR/CR/ESR anymore.

As mentioned on the login page, the system has a time-out of 45 minutes.
This means that your session will be ended after 45 minutes of inactivity.
The actions that define your session as being active are:

  • All navigation actions, navigate between the pages
  • Saving actions

The fact that you are typing some text in a textbox is not recognized as being active!!!
We recommend you to save your comments every 15/30 minutes when creating reports. If you choose to copy/paste your comments, we advise you to do it from a notepad file. If you copy/paste from a Word document, please note that the signs > < can block the system.

7. How to navigate between the pages?

There are different navigation links in the system.

  • The "Home" link goes always back to the homepage of the system.
  • The “Return” button brings you back to the previous page. Please use it instead of the “Back” button in the Internet Explorer toolbar.
  • The arrows at the bottom of some pages: <<< >>>
  • The "Previous page" button (when you are in the "Help" menus). This button allows you to return to the previous page.

8. Problems when generating reports under the “Reporting” menu. !!! EC Staff only!!!

a) Pop-up blocker:

In order to generate reports, pop-ups must be authorized. If the pop-up blocker is activated it will block the opening of the reports window. To authorize pop-ups, click on the menu “Tools” in your Internet Explorer window, then click on “Pop-up blocker” and choose "Turn off pop-up blocker".

b) Excel reports in Internet Explorer 2007:

In order to generate Excel reports, you have to select the report parameters then select the option "Excel" Before clicking on the report needed, you have to press the CTRL button and keep it down until the report opens.

c) From EC secured environment (https):

For security reasons, the EC environment does not allow to save secured pages to the disk. Due to this, the EC Internet Explorer does not allow the opening of certain pages. Therefore, in order to generate reports, you will first have to perform following actions:

  • Go to the menu "Tools" of your Internet Explorer window
  • Click on "Internet options", then on "Advanced".
  • Choose in the dropdown menu "Security".
  • Uncheck the option "Do not save encrypted pages to disk".
  • Do not forget to click on "ok".

1. My login is refused

Please check your login name with the Call Coordinator or the helpdesk

2. I can only find old calls and not the correct one.

To change the call you need go to menu:
logout -> and choose the option "change call".
There you will find a list with several call. You can set a call by default or just connect to a call.

3. How can I change my password?

To change your password you need go to menu:
call settings -> Administrate users -> List of panel Staff.
Select your panel -> You type your new password in box "password" and "repeat password" -> save

4. Where can I find a manual?

If you click on the top right menu "help", a manual will automatically download.

5. I am trying to acces or print a CR or ESR and the system just kicks me out.

The solution here is to select the proposal in this case and before entering the CR or ESR screen under the menu proposals, to go in the same menu to the option "clean tagged text". Just follow the instructions and the system will not kick you out one you enter the CR or ESR.

The reason for this is that when inserting the comments in the CR or ESR, you have probably copied text from a Wordprocessor to Pinocchio. After this operation, you need to clean the tags out of the text because Pinocchio can misunderstand some of the tags in the copied text.
